Job summary

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is seeking a Conservation Biologist II (NS) to lead district wildlife management in a nine-county SE NC area from a home-based office. The role requires strong wildlife biology expertise, field coordination, and the ability to travel regularly within the district.

Minimum qualifications include a relevant bachelor’s degree and several years of experience in wildlife or fisheries management, with a focus on habitat and population science.

Qualifications

• Understanding of advanced principles of scientific methods, wildlife biology, ecology.
• Understanding of wildlife capture, immobilization, restraint, transport and euthanasia techniques.
• Excellent communication, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead Wildlife Management Division district efforts across nine counties in SE NC.
• Provide guidance to landowners, managers and agencies on habitat and population management.
• Assist with wildlife research projects and collect biological data as district coordinator.
• Monitor population trends and wildlife morbidity and mortality; respond to wildlife emergencies.
