Job summary

Lightera seeks an Engineer or Scientist to lead and contribute to developing next-generation optical fiber manufacturing. The role requires expertise in mechanical engineering, physics, or related fields to optimize preform or fiber draw technology and improve product performance.

You will work on process design, troubleshoot, and drive innovation in fiber draw techniques while collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance next-generation optical fiber technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, mechanical or chemical engineering, materials science.
• 3+ years in a highly technical environment with process development or manufacturing.
• Experience with Hollow Core Fiber draw is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and optimization of HCF draw processes.
• Investigate relationship between process parameters and fiber properties.
• Document processes and train operators with SOPs.
• Conduct process trials and experiments to hit milestones.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design equipment and techniques.
