Job summary

Lightera seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer for its Product Realization Center in Somerset, NJ. You will work with scientists, production, and QA to raise readiness of optical fiber products, analyze methods, implement improvements, and document processes.

The focus is on improving yield, diagnosing equipment issues, and reducing costs. The role requires a degree in a relevant field, 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, and proficiency in data analysis, CAD (SolidWorks), LabVIEW, Python,

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Three or more years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Three or more years’ experience in data analysis for Manufacturing.
  • 3D CAD software (especially SolidWorks) and mechanical design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW, Python and other computer languages for automation is a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Product Realization Center in Somerset, NJ and collaborate with scientists, production, and QA to increase manufacturing readiness of new optical fiber products.
  • Analyze existing methods, implement improvements, and create documentation to improve fabrication and measurement processes.
  • Improve manufacturing yield, identify equipment and process difficulties, and reduce costs.

We currently seek a Manufacturing Process Engineer to help support our Product Realization Center in our Somerset, NJ location. You will work alongside scientists, production, and quality assurance staff to increase the manufacturing readiness of new optical fiber products and fiber-based components. This role offers the opportunity to improve fabrication and measurement processes for the manufacture of new products by analyzing existing methods, implementing improvements, and creating documentation. Key aspects of the position include improving manufacturing yield, identifying equipment and process difficulties, and reducing cost.

Key Qualifications
