Job summary

Cal Poly Humboldt is hiring a Student Services Professional II, Academic Advisor to provide primary academic advising to students in designated majors. The role emphasizes holistic guidance for first‑generation and underserved students and includes workshops, orientation support, and collaboration with faculty and staff.

Under the Director's supervision, you will build academic plans, monitor progress, and advocate for students while maintaining accurate records and contributing to campus-wide

Qualifications

• Two years of professional experience in student services or related field (Master's may substitute one year).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; Master's may substitute for one year.

Responsibilities

• Academic Advising for students in assigned majors (75%).
• Provide holistic guidance and support for diverse students.
• Explain policies, plan schedules, and monitor progress toward degree objectives.
• Advise on probation and connect students with campus resources.
• Maintain records of services provided and student progress.
• Collaborate with campus partners and participate in orientation and retention initiatives.
