Job summary

FAO Schwarz is seeking a Seasonal Toy Soldier in New York for part-time hours during the holiday season to welcome guests and lead the daily opening ceremony. You will embody the Toy Soldier persona, engage visitors, and build rapport with children and adults.

Two NYC locations are available: FAO Schwarz Flagship at 30 Rock and FAO Schwarz Boutique at Nordstrom. Compensation is $21–$23 per hour plus incentives, with benefits such as discounts and telehealth.

Qualifications

• Experience in a performance, acting, music, or dance background is a plus.
• Familiarity with a premium or experience-based retailer is a plus.
• Engaging and theatrical personality capable of captivating an audience.
• Remain positive and in character for extended periods of time.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for long periods in all weather.
• Able to be in costume during all types of weather.

Responsibilities

• Engage each guest to deliver an outstanding experience.
• Build connections with visitors while in character and bring a sense of fun to the day.
• Act as the personality of the store and build rapport with both children and adults by adapting your style to make them feel welcome.
• Lead the daily opening ceremony for the store with flair and uniqueness.
• Act as greeter for the store in all types of weather, ensuring all guests feel welcome as they start their store journey.
• Be an expert in the local NYC area, ready to supply relevant information to guests on demand as store concierge.
• Participate in social media posts in full Toy Soldier persona.
• Participate in filmed or live video content for social media.
• Travel for special events with the company or partners on a pre-agreed basis.
• Lead store tours, including private events and VIP tours.
• Tailor key talking points to suit your audience and deliver key information with a personal flair.
