Job summary

SIMCO, LLC in Carlsbad, NM seeks a Hoisting Engineering Manager to lead hoisting and shaft integration at the WIPP site, providing engineering support to Operations for safe, compliant, and continuous hoist operations.

Ideal candidates have extensive mining and management experience, with hands-on hoisting/shaft system expertise, knowledge of 30 CFR, MSHA relations, and strong Excel skills. Four‑day workweek and relocation assistance are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with nine (9) years of related experience, or with an Associates degree nine (13) years, or High School diploma with seventeen (17) years.
• Nine (9) years of related mining experience and five (5) years of management experience are required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of Hoisting and Shaft activities for WIPP and provide engineering support to Operations for safe, compliant hoist operation.
• Provide direction, oversight, and guidance to Hoisting Supervisors and crew personnel.
• Conduct management assessments and operational observations and enforce site policies and regulations.
• Maintain cross‑departmental relationships to support integrated facility operations.
• Ensure MSHA compliance and provide vendor support for testing, inspections, and maintenance when requested.
• Oversee project completions or outages and monitor System Health Walkdowns and Reports.
• Coordinate with installing, refurbishing, and rehabilitation efforts across supporting organizations.
