Job summary

RRD in Logan, Utah is hiring for a forklift operator to move finished product, supply materials, and stage shipments. The role includes inspections, battery service duties, and adherence to safety policies.

Overtime, shift differential, and comprehensive benefits reflect the 12-hour shift schedule. Compensation ranges from $16.25 to $22.60 per hour with eligibility for overtime and a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Must know how high, wide, and long the forklift truck and its load are, and how much the forklift can lift.
• Able to identify doorway and aisle clearance for forklift operation and to reach shelving.
• Knowledge of storage layout to locate and place items without detailed instructions.
• Skilled in moving forklifts in tight spaces and stacking loads.
• Experience operating controls for starting, stopping, and maneuvering forklifts in various environments.
• Must recognize load balance and forklift capability for safe handling.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment to move finished product for shipping or storage
• Supplies Manufacturing Department with materials as needed
• Stages product to be moved or shipped
• Racks unused supplies and maintains an inventory of item type, amount and location
• Transports and processes manufacturing paper by-products
• Empties trash hoppers and performs housekeeping duties as needed
• Performs routine daily inspections on hoist and reports maintenance needs
• May perform battery service duties and lubricate moving parts on forklifts
• May include changing LP/Propane
• Adheres to safety policies and procedures including hazardous waste handling
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

Job Description

• Operates equipment to move finished product for shipping or storage
• Supplies Manufacturing Department with materials as needed
• Stages product to be moved or shipped
• Racks unused supplies and maintains an inventory of type, amount and location of items
• Transports and process manufacturing paper by-products
• Empties trash hoppers and performs other housekeeping duties as needed
• Performs routine daily inspections on hoist and assures maintenance needs are reported
• May include battery service duties such as inspecting, recharging and replacing batteries of electrical leads and battery poles and lubricating truck's moving parts
• May include changing LP/Propane
• Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out-tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Must know how high, wide, and long the fork lift truck and its load are, and how much the fork lift truck can lift
• Ability to identify how high and wide a doorway and an aisle must be to drive the fork lift truck and its load; how high and wide the shelf, bin, etc., must be to place the load; and how high the load must be lifted to reach the shelf or bin
• Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without need for detailed instructions
• Skilled in moving fork lift trucks about in places where there is very little room to stack or remove loads
• Greater knowledge and skill than Hoist Operator 1 in the handling of controls for driving fork lift and/or clamp trucks
• Must be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backings, and driving fork lift trucks through narrow aisles in building, up and down ramps, and in and out of railroad cars, trucks, etc.; and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls
• Must be able to recognize whether the fork lift truck is able to lift the load and whether the load is properly balanced

Additional Information

12 hour C Shift- Sat-Mon, 5AM-5PM

Shift Differential: $1.75 per hour

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $16.25 to $22.60/ hourly. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
