Job summary

Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented accounting clerk to support the accounting division. The role emphasizes AP, AR, journal entries, and monthly reconciliations in a busy resort setting.

You will prepare budgets, estoppels for real estate, and monthly owner statements, while assisting with inquiries and maintaining owner records. A one-year accounting certificate or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

• US GAAP knowledge and 2 years of related work/education are required.
• Clear English communication, both spoken and written, is essential.
• Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• AP, AR, journal entries, and financial statement reconciliation.
• Prepare budget shells and enter budget information into the system.
• Prepare estoppels for real estate transactions.
• Maintain ownership information and manage owner accounts for special assessments.
• Prepare and mail monthly/quarterly owner statements.
• Assist internal/external inquiries into invoices, receivables, expenditures, and other accounting transactions.

POSITION SUMMARY

Applies principles of accounting and follows procedures and processes to enter financial data, AR, AP and completes monthly financial processes to support the overall success of the accounting division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• AP, AR, journal entries, and financial statement reconciliation.
• Prepare budget shells and enter budget information into system.
• Prepare estoppels for real estate transaction.
• Maintain ownership information including setting up new owner, inactivating old owners, processing new owner accounts for special assessments.
• Prepares and mails monthly/quarterly owner statements.
• Works with manager for monthly collection letters as necessary.
• Assists in both internal and external inquiries into invoice payments, receivables, expenditures, and other accounting transactions.
• Updates monthly and quarterly recurring charges and other accounting controls in the system when directed to do so by Accountants, Controllers, Director of Accounting, HOA Manager, or direct supervisor.
• Reconcile bank statements as assigned.
• Maintains an electronic filing system, downloads and files electronic records.
• Filing of all paid invoices, deposits, journal entries, bank statements, and annual upkeep of all files for all assigned associations or companies.
• Assist remote staff with various office tasks including scanning items for their review, printing checks, printing and folding mail.
• Assists with related special projects, as required.
• Back up all accounting clerk duties as needed for time off or heavy volume.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Has basic knowledge and understanding of US GAAP) 2 years of previous work history/education required Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Outlook and Word, with at least one year of experience using programs. VMS and PDF software experience is helpful. Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

One-year certificate from college or technical school or one or more years related accounting experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Steamboat Resort hourly pay range: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Other physical requirements are to be able to speak and to be able to hear.
