Job summary

RSU 48 invites applications for the Superintendent of Schools to lead one of Maine’s intimate PK–8 districts. The position emphasizes student-centered, visionary leadership with a focus on inclusive planning, communication, and strong partnership with the school board and local community.

The successful candidate will navigate a three-day-per-week schedule, oversee 566 students and 92 staff, and work toward excellent teaching and learning within a supportive, close-knit district in mid-coast

Qualifications

• Maine State Superintendent Certification (010) or eligibility for certification.
• Bachelor’s degree and an advanced degree demonstrating excellence in educational achievement.
• Leadership experience in educational settings (schools, colleges, or universities).
• School or district administrative experience and classroom teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead RSU 48 as Superintendent for the PK–8 district and oversee a three-day-per-week role.
• Communicate with clarity and integrity across the school community.
• Champion inclusive planning and high expectations for teaching and learning.
