Job summary

Donor Network of Arizona is seeking an HLA Technologist for part-time, as-needed work in the Donor Network of Arizona HLA laboratory. The role supports ABO and donor histocompatibility testing, initial typing, and Real-Time PCR-based typing within a 24/7 operation.

Hours are flexible with on-call requirements from 6PM–8:30AM, weekends and holidays, and a minimum of 3–5 shifts per month. Requires advanced degree and CHS certification with several years of lab experience.

Qualifications

• Meets state/federal regulatory requirements for laboratory personnel.
• Degree in a relevant laboratory science plus licensure or certification.
• Experience in histocompatibility or immunological testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in ABO and donor histocompatibility testing and management.
• Determines donor HLA and ABO initial typing within turnaround time.
• Perform HLA typing using Real-Time PCR.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance and QA/QC activities.
• Participates in transplant on-call rotation.

About the HLA Technologist

Participates in all aspects of ABO and donor histocompatibility testing including test management, performance, and evaluation.

Determinesdonor’s HLA and ABOinitialtyping within a pre-determined turnaround time.

HLA Typing usingReal-Time PCR method.

Routine equipment maintenance.

Assistswith quality control and quality assurance.

Participates in transplanton-call rotation.

Note:This is apart-time position, meaning the employee will work on an as-needed basis.Hours are not guaranteed and may vary depending on operational requirements. This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexibility or supplemental income.

Schedule:Part-time(as needed, flexible hours). Donor Network of Arizona's HLA laboratory is a 24/7 operation.

Shift: Varies based on department needs, including weekends and holidays. Must be available for on-callrequirementfrom 6PM-8:30AM, 7 days per week. 3-5 shifts minimum required per month.

Requirements

Meets current state, federal and other regulatory agency (ASHI) educational/experience requirements: doctoral, master's or bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution or have earned an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.

At least five years’ experience testing in accredited Histocompatibility or Immunological lab. Active CHS (ACHI) certification required.
