UC San Diego Health seeks a laboratory technician in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health to perform molecular biology experiments and process clinical samples. The role supports HIV/AIDS and antimicrobial resistance research, with responsibilities spanning sample handling, data documentation, and routine equipment maintenance.

Ideal candidates will have theoretical biology knowledge, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with MS Word/Excel.

Formación

• Theoretical knowledge of biology, molecular biology, or related fields.
• Ability to maintain accurate lab records and notebooks; document research procedures clearly.
• Experience with PC software including MS Word and Excel.
• Willingness to learn new skills, research methods, and principles; ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Knowledge of sterile culture, aseptic techniques, buffers, and reagent preparation.
• Experience operating lab equipment (pipettors, pH meters, balances, plate washers/readers, gel apparatus, thermocyclers, incubators, centrifuges).
• Ability to organize and adapt work schedule to experimental design.

Responsabilidades

• Perform standard molecular biology techniques including HIV viral load assays, DNA/RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and sequencing.
• Process human blood and clinical samples from donors; maintain notebooks and inventory; prepare solutions and maintain lab area.
• Handle routine equipment maintenance and ensure compliance with safety and biosafety practices.
