Job summary

Springfield Urban League is seeking an HIV Peer Counselor to engage, educate, and support BIPOC MSM and other priority communities in Central Illinois. You will work within Health Initiatives to increase access to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment, participating in NightReach and regional outreach.

The role emphasizes culturally responsive, trauma-informed peer engagement, outreach in community settings, and referrals to care, with a focus on reducing barriers and health disparities.

Qualifications

• Must understand HIV prevention, testing, PrEP/PEP and linkage-to-care principles.
• Ability to engage BIPOC communities and priority populations in outreach and education.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Engage priority populations with HIV prevention education and outreach.
• Provide HIV testing information, counseling, and linkage to care.
