Job summary

The State of Georgia, Department of Public Health, is seeking an HIV Prevention Health Educator to join the public health team. This role focuses on education to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent disease across communities.

Core responsibilities include assisting with testing and event preparation, collecting and analyzing data to identify community needs, and developing educational materials for internal and external stakeholders. There may be emergency response duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in public health education or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Hlth Educator 1 (HCP030) or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and assists Linkage Coordinator and Prevention Coordinator with testing and preparation for events.
• Collects and analyses data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environment.
• Plans and provides educational opportunities for health personnel, and prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials to stakeholders, both internal and external.
• In the event of a public health emergency, participates in emergency response activities as directed.
