Job summary

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) invites applications for the HIV Prevention Health Educator. This role supports outreach, testing coordination, and prevention activities to promote healthy lifestyles across Georgia communities.

Core duties include data collection and analysis to identify needs, planning educational opportunities for health personnel, and contributing to public health emergency response efforts as directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience in public health education or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Hlth Educator 1 (HCP030) or position equivalent.

  • Educational Planning: Plans and provides educational opportunities for health personnel, and prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials to stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Public Health Emergency Response: In the event of a public health emergency, participates in emergency response activities as directed.

Additional Information

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being.

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals.

A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid.
