Job description

The Regional Medical Scientific Director (RMSD), Virology, is a credentialed (MD, PhD, PharmD, or DNP) therapeutic and disease area expert responsible for engaging in scientific exchange and research support with external scientific leaders and investigators in the medical and scientific community. RMSDs provide factual, scientific information about non-product areas related to Virology (HIV) and respond to scientific inquiries, including questions about the company's products and data. They facilitate and develop peer relationships with scientific leaders, support data generation activities, and represent the company at scientific meetings.

Location

This is a REMOTE position, requiring residence in South Florida (Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Miami). Up to 50% travel with some overnight stays.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Engage in scientific exchange and research support with external scientific leaders and investigators.
  2. Provide balanced, factual scientific information on non-product topics related to the company’s interests in Virology (HIV).
  3. Develop and maintain peer-level relationships with scientific leaders and investigators.
  4. Support data generation activities, including sponsored trials and investigator-initiated studies.
  5. Report to the RMSD Team Leader within U.S. Medical Affairs, Global Clinical Development, R&D Division.
  6. Identify and manage collaborations with scientific stakeholders to address scientific needs and facilitate access to information.
  7. Conduct scientific discussions and maintain a presence to ensure ongoing engagement.
  8. Engage in proactive scientific discussions on disease states, diagnosis, epidemiology, and unmet medical needs.
  9. Communicate external insights and feedback to internal teams to inform strategy.
  10. Represent the company at scientific meetings and contribute to post-congress reports.
  11. Develop and execute territory plans aligned with global strategies.
  12. Support investigator-initiated research and identify potential investigators for clinical programs.
  13. Provide scientific support to Health Systems Teams within U.S. Medical Affairs.
  14. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the disease and therapeutic area through educational activities.
  15. Ensure compliance with all policies, laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Minimum Education Requirements

Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) relevant to the disease area and position requirements.

Required Experience and Skills
  1. Experience in Virology, especially HIV/AIDS.
  2. At least 3 years of clinical or research experience in a relevant disease area, demonstrating scientific excellence.
  3. Alternatively, over 5 years of Medical Scientific Liaison experience in a relevant therapeutic area.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and presentation skills.
  5. Ability to travel up to 50%, including overnight stays, and reside within the territory.
  6. Deep therapeutic knowledge and awareness of current trends and new information.
  7. Ability to network with external stakeholders and understand complex data sets.
  8. Knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations, and ethical standards.
  9. Effective organization and prioritization skills in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience

Recognition for scientific excellence, experience in clinical practice and independent research, prior industry experience, established regional relationships, leadership skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
