Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Histotechnologist to join the laboratory team at Indian Creek. You will prepare glass slides, embed, section, stain, and perform immunohistochemistry and digital imaging as part of tissue evaluation alongside a Pathologist.

Key duties include operating tissue processors, stainers, cryostats, and coverslippers, while ensuring quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and safety standards are maintained.

Qualifications

• High School graduate and completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program (or equivalent).
• Associates degree or 60 semester hours with biology and chemistry plus histopathology experience per ASCP guidelines.
• Technical/Professional training or degree in Histotechnology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue specimens, microtomy, staining, and histochemical analyses; may include immunohistochemistry and digital imaging.
• Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot lab instrumentation; document activities.
• Operate lab equipment such as tissue processors, automatic stainers, cryostats, and coverslippers.
• Handle biohazardous materials and adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
• Support slide labeling, QA/QC, proficiency testing, and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to specimen processing, embedding, fixation, and storage as required.
