Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a Histotechnologist to assist daily laboratory operations, including embedding, cutting, staining, and preparing slides for microscopic examination. You will support quality control, and train new staff while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong histology skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Assists in embedding, cutting, staining and frozen sections for histology.
• Performs competency-validated procedures ordered by medical staff.
• Maintains safety policies and regulatory compliance in the lab.
• Communicates effectively with clinicians and staff in English.
• Supports quality control and training of new staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist bedside procedures for specimen collection when needed.
• Prepare tissue specimens for diagnosis and microscopy.
• Operate and troubleshoot histology instrumentation.
• Manage lab inventory and supplies.
• Document and track specimens in the lab system.
• Mentor histology technicians and students where applicable.
