Job summary

City of Hope in California seeks a hands-on histotechnologist to support a busy histology laboratory within the Division of Surgical Pathology. You will troubleshoot processing and staining, assist with inspections, and help plan short- and long-term operations to improve patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will hold an associate degree, complete a certified clinical program in medical laboratory sciences (histopathology), and ASCP HT/HTL certification.

Qualifications

• Associates degree.
• Completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory sciences in histopathology or equivalent education/years of experience.
• ASCP HT or HTL certification.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot technical, processing, and staining issues.
• Assist in laboratory maintenance for inspections, including SOP writing and inspection participation.
• Develop new laboratory procedures.
• Manage laboratory inventory and supplies based on LEAN/six sigma principles.
• Possess the skill sets to work within an Electronic LIS.
