Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an experienced Histotechnologist to join the Histology Lab at Baptist Downtown in Jacksonville, FL. This PRN position supports various shifts and requires 1–2 years in histology and a current or eligible Florida license. HT, MT, MLT, HTL credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities include tissue processing, embedding, staining, and slide preparation for pathologists, with strict attention to quality control and data management.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of histology lab experience.
• Medical Technology experience required.
• Florida license as Histotechnologist or eligible to obtain one.
• HT preferred; MT/MLT/HTL certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains.
• Maintain histology equipment: tissue processors, microtomes, cryostats, automated stainers, coverslips.
• File slides and blocks accurately.
• Utilize LIS for accessioning and reporting.
• Handle specimens under Pathologist guidance.

This is a PRN opportunity working various shifts.Shift Details: PRN, various coverage.This candidate will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by turning tissue samples into microscope slides based on the Pathologist's needs and orders. This Histotechnologist needs to have strong fine motor skills and be incredibly detail orientated. This candidate must have comprehensive knowledge within a Histology lab and at least 1-2 years of experience working in either a research or Histology lab. Medical Technology experience is also required. A Histotechnologist at Baptist prepares tissue samples for microscopy examination by pathologists.
