Performs routine histologic procedures according to established protocols. Maintains specimen integrity and identity throughout the preparation process. Performs histochemical and immunohistochemical staining procedures. Periodically performs routine cytologic procedures based on section needs. Performs quality control testing in accordance with established protocols.
Associates degree or equivalent in Histotechnician Technology from an accredited institution and relevant laboratory experience. HT (ASCP) preferred. Performance of routine and highly specialized analytical procedures requires a high level of technical skill and use of technical judgement in performance and evaluation of all procedures. Understanding of all routine, new and special procedures required for performance of testing in the laboratory. Experience with laboratory information system (MISYS) preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office software products desirable.
