Job summary

AdventHealth is hiring a Histotechnologist in Orlando, FL. The role involves preparing tissue specimens, embedding, staining, and quality control within a state-of-the-art pathology lab. Requires 2+ years experience in histology and an Associate degree with preference for a Bachelor's. You will train staff and support ongoing lab safety and process improvements.

Qualifications

Prepare tissue specimens to confirm patient diagnoses.
Perform complex histological procedures with data recording.
Maintain awareness of specimen handling and storage requirements.
Understand medical terminology and laboratory workflows.
Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Support continuous lab service improvements and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Register, order, and accession pathology specimens into computer systems.
Operate and maintain embedding, sectioning, staining, and cover slipping equipment.
Handle hazardous waste following training, PPE, and regulatory guidelines.
Act as a preceptor and mentor to new staff and students.
Perform quality control testing and troubleshoot issues affecting results.
Follow safety, infection control, and Chemical Hygiene policies.
