Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience as a Histotechnician
• AA or AS degree or equivalent training and experience
• HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification required/preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s) according to policies
• Capable of performing duties of Histotechnician I and II
• Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of tissue samples
• Process paperwork for accessioning and reporting
• Embed tissue in paraffin and perform microtomy
• Perform staining and cover slipping of slides; prepare reagents for special stains and IHC procedures
• Maintain equipment and document quality control activities
• Ensure compliance with CLIA and CAP regulations
