Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Histotechnician Technology from an accredited institution and relevant laboratory experience.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• Performs routine and highly specialized analytical procedures requiring technical skill and judgement.
• Experience with laboratory information system MISYS and Microsoft Office desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains laboratory instruments and records.
• Properly files slides/paraffin blocks.
• Assists pathologist with specimen grossing and frozen sections.
• Manages infectious specimens and hazardous chemicals per hospital policies.
• Maintains safety and adapts to changing work demands.
• Demonstrates professional interpersonal skills with staff, patients and families.
