Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Histotechnologist for our Raritan, NJ location. Work schedule includes evenings: Mon, Thu, Fri 10:00 am–6:30 pm; Tue/Wed 3:00 pm–11:30 pm. You will process tissue specimens, prepare slides, and perform immunohistochemical tests to support diagnostic workflows.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Histology or related science with histology experience; ASCP certifications are a plus. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO options.

• Preferred: ASCP certifications in Histology or Immunohistochemistry.
• Experience in high-volume laboratory environment is a plus.

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnologist to join our team in Raritan, NJ. Work Schedule: Monday, Thursday, and Friday: 10:00 am to 6:30 pm; Tuesday & Wednesday: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Job Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Histology OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology with 1 or more years of histology experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of histology experience
• 3 months or more of Immunohistochemistry experience
• Histology and/or ASCP certifications

Additional Job Standards

In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements

• Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range: $35.00 to $45.00 per hour + 10% differential when applicable. All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
