Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine in Allentown, PA, is seeking a histology professional to prepare tissue specimens and assist pathologists in varied histology procedures. The role involves processing tissues with SOPs, microtomy, stainers, and digital slide scanners, with potential IHC duties as needed.

The candidate should have an Associate's degree in a clinical laboratory science or equivalent and relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and familiarity with LIS and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or equivalent education.
• One year processing/embedding/microtomy experience or two years in a clinical environment with data handling.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific/technical journals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical and autopsy specimens for clinical diagnosis.
• Assist pathologist in histological examinations across procedures.
• Process tissues using standard SOPs including processors, microtomy, stainers, scanners.
• Cover specialty areas beyond processing and embedment as needed (IHC, muscle biopsy).
• Prioritize workload and respond to STAT requests.
• Operate and troubleshoot instruments per manual; perform routine maintenance.
• Contribute to quality control and performance improvement activities.
• Provide orientation and training to new staff/students.
• Participate in service recovery and ongoing education.
