Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV, seeks a Medical Technologist to perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests across disciplines, following SOPs and QC procedures. You will review results for accuracy and communicate findings to nurses and physicians.

The role requires a BS in Medical Technology or related field, state licensure per WV requirements, and ASCP/AMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science or related degree.
State licensure as required by WV state boards (WV HCTP or Trainee for WV).
ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Process and analyze samples promptly and accurately with proper specimen identification.
Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments.
Perform quality control and infection control procedures across areas.
Possibly perform quality control summaries.
Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed.
Complete forms and report findings to nurses/physicians.
Interpret results within the medical context and communicate with healthcare team.
Maintain patient and specimen records accurately.
Follow safety guidelines for workers, patients, and the public.
Interact professionally with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
