Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Histotechnician 3 for the AP Histology Lab in Downtown Dallas. The role covers a variety of anatomic procedures with supervision as needed and leadership in absence of management.

Must have ASCP HT/HTL certification with 3+ years histology experience including IHC and special stains, and CAP familiarity. Evening shift 1:30pm–10:00pm, located in HTPN Downtown Dallas.

  • Experience with IHC and special stains.
  • Work with CAP standards and laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations.
  • Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
  • Identify and address deviations from procedures and policies.
  • Maintain instrument functionality and inventory; troubleshoot as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with lab staff and external customers.
  • Participate in projects and training within the department.

The Histotechnician 3 performs and monitors a variety of anatomic procedures and processes, assumes responsibility for problem resolutions, training others on all aspects of the department with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions Of The Role

Perform variety of technical procedures resulting in creation of microscopic slide preparations.

Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.

Recognize and take appropriate action when established procedures and policies are not followed.

Perform instrument maintenance, maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and troubleshooting as needed.

Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.

Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.

Demonstrates and educates laboratory principles, technical skills and provide direction to others.

Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director. Assume leadership responsibility in the absence of Supervisor/Manager.
