Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Histology or equivalent with 1+ year histology experience.
• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment.
• Immunohistochemistry experience.
• Comfortably embedding both large and small specimens.
• Able to read all labels and documents accurately.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with SOPs and safety protocols.
• Able to pass a color blindness test.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam.
• Produce histopathological slides of surgical specimens.
• Section embedded tissue with a microtome and mount on slides.
• Process and stain sections using routine and special procedures.
• Orient and embed surgical tissue specimens.
• Prepare stains and reagents for special procedures.
• Report accurate test results to support patient care.
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments.
• Document equipment maintenance and log data.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Adhere to quality control policies and laboratory procedures.
• Document problems affecting test performance and take corrective actions.
