Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Histotechnician 1 to prepare specimens for microscopic evaluation and diagnosis. You will perform technical procedures to create slide preparations, operate lab instruments, and document results with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include QC/QA, instrument maintenance, inventory management, and effective communication with lab staff and external customers as part of a team-focused clinical laboratory.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.

Job Summary

The Histotechnician 1 prepares specimens for microscopic evaluation and diagnosis. They perform technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments, records, and documentation with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Perform variety of technical procedures resulting in creation of microscopic slide preparations.
• Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• Demonstrates and educates laboratory practices and technical skills to others.
