Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree with chemistry and biology coursework or HT program.
• Histotechnician certification or certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares tissue and biological samples for examination by pathologists and cytotechnologists.
• Embeds specimens and cuts slides; stains with routine H&E; maintains specimen integrity.
• Labels, distributes slides, and performs QC on equipment; documents issues.
• Operates and maintains tissue processing equipment; records and verifies slide quality.
• Maintains stain setup; filters and changes stains; documents QC; notifies pathologist of discrepancies.
• Prepares Pap, GyN and Non-Gyn specimens; matches patient info to requisition.
