Great Hearts Academies is seeking an Upper School History and Economics Teacher for the Forest Heights campus in San Antonio, TX. The role requires teaching multiple grade levels using the Great Hearts curriculum and fostering a joyful, rigorous classroom environment.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree or higher, with all majors welcome and US work authorization. Travel for local training may be required, and an exposition to classical liberal arts is encouraged.

• Uphold and model Great Hearts culture, dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful school environment.
• Communicate clearly with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering home-school partnerships.
• Participate in faculty collaboration, school events, and ongoing professional growth.

Position Title: Upper School History and Economics Teacher

Location: Great Hearts Forest Heights Upper School (5538 Research Rd.,
San Antonio, TX 78240)

Reports To: Headmaster

FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Humanities at Great Hearts:

History courses offered are as follows:

• Introduction to the American Tradition - 6th grade
• Ancient History - 7th grade
• US History - 8th grade
• American History and Literature - 9th Grade
• European History and Literature - 10th Grade

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education:

• Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
• Certification is not required for general education

US Work Authorization is required.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
