Job summary

Texas Historical Commission at Mission Dolores State Historic Site seeks a skilled maintenance worker to perform complex building maintenance, grounds work, and custodial duties. You will maintain tools, equipment, and records, operate motorized equipment, and support site operations under supervision.

The role emphasizes safety, preventative maintenance, and collaboration with staff architects and the site manager. On-site, full-time, with travel up to 10% as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of work experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair work.
• Knowledge of maintenance and custodial duties; ability to operate light equipment.
• Ability to maintain safety and security of infrastructure; willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the cyclical maintenance plan for the site and buildings.
• Act as a safety officer to ensure compliance with safety regulations and is a first responder during site emergencies.
• Perform daily and seasonal grounds keeping work (mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizing, watering).
• Perform site pest management and apply pesticides using proper methods.
• Perform preventative and regular maintenance on equipment, tools, and grounds keeping gear.
• Maintain state vehicles and schedule routine inspections.
• Document maintenance work and prepare reports with photos as needed.
• Assist with special events and site operations under supervision.
