CBMM in St. Michaels, MD invites applicants for the Shipwright Apprentice program.

This full-time, hourly role includes education via hands-on work, public engagement, and participation in maintenance of historic vessels, with opportunities to develop a portfolio and professional network in maritime preservation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience using basic hand tools.
• Valid driver's license.
• Comfortable working in a public-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in CBMM's Apprentice For A Day Program (AFAD) and public education efforts.
• Assist shipwrights in the maintenance of CBMM's historic vessels and floating fleet.
• Assist with hauling vessels on the marine railway and build blocking/cradles.
• Support engine and mechanical systems maintenance with CBMM's marine mechanic.
• Contribute to annual preventative maintenance for CBMM's floating fleet.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support CBMM's operations and mission.
