Job summary

Storey County is seeking an experienced administrator to lead historic preservation, museum operations, and artifact management. You will coordinate with nonprofit organizations managing county properties and work with the Comstock Historic District Commission to develop and implement cultural resources programs.

The role offers independence, potential staff supervision, and a path to advance initiatives in historic and cultural resources management. A background check will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in history, anthropology, museum studies, historic preservation, or closely related field.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience in museum operations, collections management, historic preservation, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Master's in architectural history meeting standards may be preferred.
• Experience providing program leadership or supervision is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and administer county programs for historic preservation and museum operations.
• Coordinate artifact and collection management.
• Coordinate with nonprofit organizations managing historic county properties and with the Comstock Historic District Commission.
• Develop and implement historic and cultural resources programs with independence and autonomy.
• May lead or supervise other employees.
