Job summary

Architect of the Capitol is seeking a Decorative Plasterer (Painter) to perform intricate painting and decorative work to restore decorative surfaces within the Capitol complex. The role is within the Library Buildings & Grounds, Tenant Services Division, Projects Branch, Painting Night Section, and requires skill to preserve historic finishes.

Applicants will apply plastering techniques on diverse substrates and reproduce authentic motifs from listed decorative patterns, while using a computer

Qualifications

• You must have decorative plastering experience and ability to restore ornamental surfaces.
• You will replicate original decorative designs and patterns as listed in the job duties.
• You will use a computer for daily reports and project updates.

Responsibilities

• Apply and repair plaster on metal, wood, gypsum lathe, wallboard, and masonry surfaces.
• Repair plaster walls and ornamental plaster to restore original conditions.
• Replicate decorative design elements such as Arabesque, Bay Leaf Imbricated, and other motifs.
