Job summary

The US Architect of the Capitol seeks a Decorative Plasterer (Painter) to perform intricate painting and decorative work, restoring decorative surfaces in the Capitol campus. This role is housed in the Library Buildings & Grounds, Tenant Services Division, Projects Branch, Painting Night Section.

You will apply and repair plaster on multiple materials, repair ornamental plaster, and replicate historic designs. Daily reporting and project updates are maintained on a computer.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform decorative plasterer duties and responsibilities without more than normal supervision including:
• Applying and repairing plaster on metal, wood, gypsum lathe, wallboard, and masonry surfaces.
• Repairing plaster walls and ornamental plaster.
• Replicating original decorative design (i.e., Arabesque, Bay Leaf Imbricated, Bay Leaf Wreath, Cloth and Leaf Swags, Fluttering Ribbon, Guilloche, Greek Keys, Urns, Lanterns, Rinceaux, Anthemion, Acanthus, Zodiac Signs, Eggs and Darts and Stylize Dolphins)
• Using a computer for Daily reports and updates on projects and assignments

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Library Buildings & Grounds, Tenant Services Division, Projects Branch, Painting Night Section. As a Decorative Plasterer (Painter) you will perform intricate painting and decorative work requiring skill to restore decorative surfaces.
