Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Histopath Tech I-III to prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination and to perform tissue processing, special stains, decalcification, and slide/cassette printing. Minimum qualifications include an Associates degree in Histotechnology (or NAACLS-approved training) and at least one year of related histology experience; certification

Qualifications

Associates degree in Histotechnology or NAACLS accredited histology training/completion of a clinical histology rotation.
Equivalency: military certificate with histopath training that qualifies for certification.
One year of clinical histology work experience or NAACLS program internship counts toward experience.

Responsibilities

Prepares tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist.
Maintains and programs tissue processors and performs special stains.
Decalcifies bone specimens and performs modified H&E staining techniques.
Operates automated slide and cassette printers.

Education

Associates degree in Histotechnology

Associates or Bachelors degree with 60 semester hours in biology/chemistry including 12 hours biology/chemistry

Equivalent military certificate with histopath or hospital training qualifying for certification
