Job summary

Labcorp in Mobile, AL is seeking a Grossing Technologist Trainee to join our histology team. You will perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides, assist in the accurate gross description and dissection of surgical specimens, and operate laboratory instruments under supervision to ensure quality prep for pathologist review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience (preferred).
• ASCP or AMT certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides
• Specialize in the accurate gross description and dissection of surgical specimens
• Diagram pertinent gross specimens as necessary
• Prepare sections of human tissue for pathologist diagnostic study
• Operate laboratory instruments to properly display specimens
• Perform equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Comply with applicable safety procedures and protocol
• Effectively communicate with histology team members
