Job summary

HCA Healthcare's Panhandle Central Lab in Fort Walton Beach, FL is seeking a Histology Technologist/HistoTech to provide expertise and champion results in a fast-paced environment. The role supports tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and data entry across pathology workflows.

The candidate will have an associate degree in science (bachelor's preferred), Florida licensure or ability to obtain, and 1–3 years in histology in a high-volume setting, with opportunities for career

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Science (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is beneficial (preferred)
• Florida Technologist License or ability to obtain during interview process
• Less than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years in a high-volume histology setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyze testing samples according to instructions and perform quality control procedures per protocol
• Embed tissue specimens in correct orientation at a rate of 45-60 seconds per block
• Section paraffin blocks at 35-40 blocks per hour
• Produce sections of correct thickness with minimal artifacts
• Perform routine H&E stain per department procedure
• Recognize inferior staining and correct to meet standards
• Perform on-site special stains and histo-chemical methods
• Prepare smears, cell blocks, and Cytospin preparations
• Ensure correct Cytology and Pathology numbers are entered in the computer with all clinical data
