Job Description Scope of Position

The James Clinical Lab Svcs Technician provides histological services to the Dermatology Department physicians performing MOHS surgeries at the Martha Morehouse Tower and supports the histology laboratory within the division of Surgical Pathology. Responsibilities include embedding, sorting, cutting, filing, and staining tissue slides for diagnosis. Reports to the Director of the Dermatology Department Lab and the James Clinical Laboratory Manager.

The Dermatology Lab operates Monday through Friday as needed for scheduled Mohs surgeries.

Position Summary

The Clinical Lab Svcs Technician offers histological services to the Dermatology Department and the main Histology Lab. Responsibilities include processing, embedding, freezing, sorting, cutting, filing, reagent prep, special stains, and slide staining. Additional duties include paperwork, equipment maintenance, quality control, audits, accreditation prep, training, and troubleshooting mechanical/human errors.

Minimum Education Required

2-Year College Degree or equivalent experience.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's in biological sciences or related field, or equivalent experience. HTL or similar certification required. NAACLS accredited histotech program preferred. 3-5 years histology lab experience preferred. Background check required; pre-employment physical/drug screen may be necessary. MOHS experience preferred.
