Histology Technician/Technologist to work in the Histology Laboratory within the Division of Surgical Pathology in the Department of Pathology.
Responsibilities
Processes, embeds, cuts and stains tissue specimens in a high volume patient care lab utilizing tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes, stainers and coverslippers; processes, cuts and stains formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples for patient diagnosis; prepares and changes reagents and properly disposes chemical wastes; sorts, delivers and files slides and blocks; assists with ordering, receiving, labeling, and stocking incoming supplies and reagents; assists with quality control and quality assurance record keeping; assists in training personnel as needed; completes and organizes paperwork; assists with maintenance of equipment; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Associate Degree and one year of histology experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Some positions will require ASCP (HT/HTL) certification within 2 years of hire.
Additional Information:Shift and schedule availability will depend on current openings at the time of your application. Applications for 1st shift are welcome, though current openings are available on 2nd and 3rd shift.
Flexible scheduling can be considered, including five 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday, four 10 hour shifts, 2nd shift start times as early as 3PM, and 3rd shift start times as early as 8PM. Other arrangements will be considered!
