Job summary

MUHA is seeking a Histotechnician (HT) to prepare and process tissue samples for histologic examination by pathologists. The role involves handling fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining, ensuring compliance with JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA, and CAP standards.

Requires an associate degree with biology/chemistry credits and HT(ASCP) certification or equivalent, plus at least one year of clinical laboratory experience. This is an hourly paid, PRN laboratory position.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree from an accredited college/university with 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of clinical laboratory work experience required.
  • HT(ASCP) certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and processes tissue samples for routine histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist.
  • Ensures laboratories compliance in meeting standards set forth by JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA and CAP.
