Job summary

The full-time Histology Technician II will support technical laboratory personnel in day-to-day operations of the Dermatopathology, Histology and Immunohistology Laboratories in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at USC.

You will prepare reagents, receive specimens, perform high-complexity testing and immunohistochemistry, monitor inquiries, and coordinate with clients while maintaining safety and inventory.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: Related undergraduate study.
• Preferred education: Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Prepare simple and complex reagents or media under direct supervision.
• Receive, accession and triage patient specimens, blocks and slides.
• Perform high complexity testing and advanced histopathology procedures and staining techniques.
• Offer expertise in Immunohistochemistry including H&E, special stains, IHC, IF, and CISH staining.
• Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
• Identify and separate specimens for referral or internal analysis.
• Coordinate research projects and clinical test implementation activities.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials following safety protocols.
