Job summary

Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination by a Pathologist. You will embed, cut, stain, mount slides, and ensure accurate specimen labeling and data entry.

The role involves immunohistochemistry and special stains, QA, and coordination of send-outs. Education preferred is an Associate degree in Science; 1 year related experience is required, with ASCP certification achievable within 12 months of start date.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to perform accurate data entry, retrieval and documentation.
• Minimum 1 year related experience.
• Histotechnician certification within 12 months of start date (ASCP).

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue sections by embedding, cutting, staining and mounting for microscopic examination.
• Ensure accurate labeling of specimens and proper accessioning of materials.
• Perform quality assurance on stained slides and assist pathologists with special procedures.
• Coordinate send-outs and tests as required and maintain reagents and stock solutions.
