Job summary

Inova Health System's Inova Research Department in Falls Church, VA, seeks a Histology Technician 1 for a full-time day shift (8:00am-4:30pm). The role involves cutting, staining and preparing tissue sections for pathologist review and laser microdissection work in a translational research lab.

No prior laser microdissection experience is required; comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to learn laser microdissection techniques and lab workflows.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year Histology Tech experience OR Successful progression/productivity for 1 year in the Inova Histology Tech Trainee position OR Inova HT/HTL program graduate eligible for ASCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for Pathologist review.
• Prioritize/complete testing procedures with accurate records per policies and regulations.
• Follow SOPs for embedding and sectioning paraffin blocks to produce high-quality slides for staining procedures.
