Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced Histotechnician (HT/HTL) to perform specialized histological techniques including immunohistochemistry and pathology molecular methods. You will assist with instrument evaluation, quality control, and data management, supporting frozen section procedures and intraoperative consultations to deliver timely results.

Pay range: $22.90 - $37.25 / hour

Our surgical pathology grossing and frozen section team supports real-time diagnostics that directly informs patient care in the operating room. Working collaboratively alongside pathologists' assistants, pathology specialists, and laboratory technicians, you'll help examine, dissect, and process specimens from routine biopsies to complex oncology and transplant cases. You'll assist with gross examination, tissue sampling, frozen section procedures, and intraoperative consultations to deliver timely, accurate information that helps guide surgical decisions. Job Description

To perform a variety of specialized, complex histological techniques (immunohistochemical/IHC, pathology molecular, renal). Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Currently certified as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
