Shift: Night Shift – Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM (includes 30-minute break)
Assignment Duration: 30 weeks (Temporary Assignment – Covering FTE Leave of Absence)
Pay Rate: $50/hour
Local Candidates Only – No Travelers

Position Summary:

NYP Weill Cornell Medical Center is seeking a qualified and experienced Histology Technician to join our pathology team on a temporary basis to cover a leave of absence. This is a critical overnight shift that requires attention to detail, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced laboratory.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare histologic slides from biopsy and dermatology specimens according to established protocols
• Perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining (including special stains), and coverslipping
• Ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation of all specimens
• Maintain and operate histology equipment and troubleshoot as needed
• Follow all safety, quality control, and compliance protocols
• Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory personnel to ensure timely and accurate results

Qualifications:

Must have an Associate’s Degree in Science with completion of an accredited Histology program, or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Must hold a current New York State license as one of the following:

Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Clinical Laboratory Technician

Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a histology laboratory, preferably with biopsy and dermatology specimens.

Must be able to work independently during overnight hours and handle a high specimen volume with accuracy and precision.

This is a local-only role – candidates must reside within commuting distance of the medical center.

The shift begins on Sunday night and runs through Thursday night .
