Job summary

Sonic Healthcare USA, Inc is seeking a Histology Technician Trainee in Beachwood, OH. The role supports embedding and preparing slides for routine H&E and special stains, along with gross description and dissection of specimens.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot processing steps, and work in a lab with safety-focused culture. Strong analytical skills and adeptness with lab equipment are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• CAHEA/NAACLS HT (ASCP) accreditation required.
• 1 year of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing.
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment (microscopes, analyzers, pipettes, centrifuges).

Responsibilities

• Embed and prepare slides for routine H&E and special stain procedures.
• Perform gross description and dissection of specimens.
• Perform and document scheduled preventative maintenance.

Days: Monday - Friday

In The Role, You Will:

• Perform a vital part of the patient care process through embedding and preparing slides for routine H & E and special stain procedures.
• Perform gross description and dissection of specimens received.
• Performs and documents scheduled preventative maintenance
• Recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, staining
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control

All you need for the Histology Technician Trainee role is:

• 1 year of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms

Bonus Points If You’ve Got:

• 1+ years of laboratory training or experience in a high volume laboratory

In The Histology Technician All You Need Is:

• Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution.
• Graduation from a school of Histotechnology accredited by CAHEA/NAACLS AND HT (ASCP) required.
• 1 year of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing
• Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms

• 2+ years of laboratory training or experience in a high volume laboratory with documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience
