Job summary

Brigham andWomen's Faulkner Hospital is seeking a per diem Histology Technologist to prepare tissue specimens by processing, microtomy, and mounting for microscopic analysis. Onsite position at 1153 Centre Street with rotating shifts.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of clinical or histology experience, strong knowledge of histotechnique, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Per diem role with hourly pay in the range shown. Training and PPE provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree related field preferred.
• Clinical or Histology experience 1–2 years required.
• Fundamental knowledge of histotechnique including fixation, decalcification, processing, embedding, and staining.
• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Processes, embeds, and section tissue specimens for slides.
• Embeds control tissue and cuts control slides to maintain an adequate control library.
• Performs preventive maintenance and quality control procedures (oil-ing/cleaning microtomes, processors, staining solutions).
• Ensures proper use of PPE to maintain safety at all times.
• Maintains case identification and tracking to support patient safety.
• Follows hospital and lab policies and safety practices; maintains a safe, clean, prepared work area.
