Eastside Medical Center in Tucker, GA is seeking a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist to prepare tissue samples for pathologist review. You will cut, stain, and ready specimens while prioritizing testing procedures and maintaining precise records in compliance with established policies.

The role requires an HS diploma or GED, completion of a histology program or equivalent experience, and ASCP HT certification. Eligibility for GA licensure and an 18-month exam pathway may apply.

Formación

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program required or, in lieu of degree, one year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory required.
• ASCP certification as Histotechnologist/Histotechnician or equivalent required; GA DCH rules apply.
• Recently moved to Georgia or completed requirements may be temporarily classified for eighteen months to complete exam within 1.5 years.

Responsabilidades

Overview:

The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
